Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was just five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at her first Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. When she was six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes for acting, singing as well as dancing. When she was ten, she was performing and taking part in many Stagecoach shows and school productions. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were cast as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001, the film set records for its opening day revenue as well as its opening weekend earnings. The film received praise from experts, and also by the performances of its three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, has praised Emma for her performance. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards in the film.
